Athens....I hate you!

Where to start with our adventures of athens. Lets begin with saying Im so glad we are only staying here for one night.

We arrived in the port from Ios around 4pm after a 4 hour ferry. Ofcourse we have no idea where our hostel is located and ofcourse the Greeks have decided that all taxis will go on strike for the day. So were stuck in Athens the dirtiest city we've been to yet, its ridiculously hot, we are carrying a 20kg backpack and have had minimal sleep from partying for the last 3 nights.

After ringing the hostel to find out where it is and how we get there from the port we trek to the metro. We buy our tickets for the train and have to get 2 trains to our stop where we wander around aimlessly after being given the wrong directions for half an hour until FINALLY we reach our hostel. But there is a happy ending to this horrible day. Our room has changed from a mixed dorm room to a 3 person room with our own kitchen and bathroom and the most amazing pillows our heads have ever slept on in our lifetime. We thought about stealing them they were so amazing.

After dropping our bags off we walked around the city and had a look around then we headed to the Acropolis Museum. It was just filled with old monuments and pottery and things found in the acropolis. ( It was a tiring day) After walking around the museum we went and had dinner then off to bed for an early night and an early start the next day.

We woke up early as we thought we had a 4pm flight which after trekking into the airport around 1pm we realised our flight wasnt till 6pm ... Sally should really take care of the important documents and not listen to me . But we got up early to sight see Athens before we were to leave for Rome.

Parthenon

We went to the Parthenon which had great views of the entire city. Then we walked over to the first ever modern olympics stadium (which wasnt as good as we thought as it had be restored for the 2004 games) after that we went to the parliment house to watch the changing of the guards which was really cool as they did a fancy little dance and switched guards. After taking a few photos we thought we better get lunch and head to the train for our wrong timed flight.

We arrive at the airport 5 hours early so we decide to eat a huge amount of Mcdonalds seens it had been so long and that put a massive smile on our face as they even had sweet and sour sauce!! YES! Then had a browse through the shops and got on our plane and went to Rome.

OMG mcdonalds. you have made our day. This bag consists of 2 cheesburgers and 2 large mcnugget meals and yes we ate every single thing in the bag.
