The Bike ride from hell.

Today our tour consisted our mountain bike riding! It was going to take us 1.5 hours to get to our mountain first. We were going to ride a total of 40 km, 18 of which were uphill. "It is fun" Mel says. Well Courtney first spent the entire bus ride trying NOT to vomit as we twisted and turned through the mountains.

Up the mountain we started. Dusty roads, beautiful views, and a bit of sweat and hard work but it wasn't all that bad.   When we made our first stop I thought I was going to die. As soon as I reached the rest of the group, they asked, don't you want to hear the good news or the bad news? I knew this wasn't going to be good. 8 km uphill turned into 18, and it was only going to get steeper. I did a bit of walking on the second leg but I was still holding my own. For the final leg, you could see our resting spot for our picnic lunch, but you could also see the steepness and the length of the road it took to get there. This was going to hurt.

After lunch, it was a lot of downhill which sounds more fun, but I'm glad we had the uphill first. My bum was quite sore to ride the way down, and then my wrists got sore from trying to keep myself off the seat. It was also at least 33 degrees for the entire day, but it was fun none the less.

We had a bit more free time after this event before dinner, but all we wanted to do was lay. So we did.  Lets just say I was glad that it was our last bit of scheduled activeness.
